Ministering to Military Families: Pre-deployment, During Deployment, and After Deployment

Presented by Jim Durham, Chaplain, Jack C. Montgomery VA

There are a variety of unique issues that confront military families, issues that those who have not experienced deployment are likely not to be familiar with. Distinctive needs arise during all stages of deployment. Issues surrounding anxiety, belonging, betrayal, post deployment flashbacks, survival guilt, PTSD, and family dynamics are just a handful of needs that ministers should be aware of. During his presentation, pastors, chaplains, and other church professionals were exposed to a variety of ways in which the local church can effectively minister to military families.
