Renewal Seminar Snapshots June 11, 2009 The Gifts of Grief Presented by Susan Bramsch, Executive Director of the Tristesse Grief Center The death of a loved one is one of the most profound and stressful challenges we face in our lives. Grief or bereavement is the emotional, physical and psychological expression of that loss. Grieving is a natural healing process that helps us accept the death and learn to make a new life without that person. Unresolved grief often manifests itself in significant health and psychological problems. Upon confronting loss individuals with the right mind-set can transform their grief into a greater appreciation of life. Experiencing difficult emotional and spiritual pain while armed with soulfulness, courage and openness to the process of grieving can help one discover important messages life has to offer. Although grief can be very painful, it can also be a valuable tool to realize personal transformation and joy. During her presentation Susan Bramsch shared with area ministers, chaplains, and other faith professional about "the gifts of grief."
