RENEWAL is designed to offer hope and comfort to people suffering from mental health disorders or addiction disorders, and support to the people who love them. Our approach is based on respect for the dignity of the people we serve and the belief that through a faith-based program, life-changing results are possible.

RENEWAL: Christian Treatment and Recovery is an optional treatment supplement available through Brookhaven Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At Brookhaven, we understand that when you are suffering from an eating disorder, a personality disorder, a behavioral health disorder or chemical dependency, life can seem utterly hopeless. It can cause Christians to feel abandoned and distant from God. Christian Rehab: When Christians Need Direction at Life’s Crossroads

Is looking for a rehabilitation program something that you thought you would never have to do as a Christian? Well, do not feel discouraged or alone- the fact is that in this World there are so many problems that can lead to destruction of one’s self  (“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it Matthew 7:13 NIV).  When/ if you are able to recognize that you need help as a Christian be proud of the fact that you are powerful in your own walk of life to be able to reach out for guidance to keep you on that straight and narrow path to righteousness. The key to finding the right place of spiritual healing is to know all of the right questions to ask- the following are suggestions to aide you in finding the right Christian Rehab Program:

Does the Rehab take insurances or private pay option? Most rehabs take various forms of health insurance and private pay options. You may need to call your health insurance to see what your coverage is based on your [particular needs. If you don’t have health insurance most rehabs have private pay arrangements at significantly lower rates.

Do they offer comprehensive treatment? You want to make sure that the facility provides everything you need to succeed.  Make sure the program provides a combination that includes several of the following categories (again, based on your need): Psychiatry, Internal medicine, Medical management, 24-hour nursing care, Occupational therapy, Behavioral therapy,  Family counseling, Social work, Recreational therapy, Dietary counseling, Psychotherapy, Group therapy, Dual diagnosis and Outpatient therapy, etc.

Do they respect my Christian Values? Seek a facility that respects your beliefs, because this is a key factor for the treatment process. Options would be to have a Christian Chaplain on staff to pray with you on a daily basis. Most Christian Rehab facilities do have chapel services that have Bible studies and worship services on a routine basis.

Is the program inpatient or outpatient? Each person’s individual need will determine if inpatient or outpatient care is needed. If you need to undergo detoxification from chemical dependency or have thoughts of death, suicide, or suicide attempts- inpatient care is essential. Otherwise, the choice between inpatient and outpatient care will be up to you and your doctor, counselor or pastoral recommendation.

Will I be treated like a number or a person? Compassion is expressed through numerous ways of communication, so as a Christian you can use your gut instinct and spiritual guidance to lead you to right facility to get the help you deserve. It all begins with the first phone call- if you are greeted by a warm, heartfelt voice over the phone (compared to an automated/ robotic voice) then you know that you are on the right track to finding the perfect fit for you.

Who runs the program? A good Christian Rehab should be run by a qualified medical staff that is trained in Mental Health and has spiritual guidance. Look for a program that is run by some of the following specialists that express the importance of spiritual guidance in addition to their professional training and specialization: Physician, Registered Nurse, Psychiatrist or Psychologist, Licensed Professionals Counselor, etc.

Can your family be involved in your care? Mental health categories such as: Psychotic, Borderline Personality, Obsessive Compulsive, Post-traumatic Stress, Social Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Chemical Dependency, Anorexia, Bulimia, and Compulsive Overeating doesn’t just affect the individual suffering from the disease; it also affects everyone who is close to the individual. Choose a program that requires family involvement, including education sessions for family members and joint counseling for you and your family to create a strong bond and support base for triumph.

Taking the first step to healing is simply a phone call away. Don’t wait until it is too late and life drags you down- remember there is hope for you and you are not alone (“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord Jeremiah 17:7).
