RENEWAL is designed to offer hope and comfort to people suffering from mental health disorders or addiction disorders, and support to the people who love them. Our approach is based on respect for the dignity of the people we serve and the belief that through a faith-based program, life-changing results are possible.

RENEWAL: Christian Treatment and Recovery is an optional treatment supplement available through Brookhaven Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At Brookhaven, we understand that when you are suffering from an eating disorder, a personality disorder, a behavioral health disorder or chemical dependency, life can seem utterly hopeless. It can cause Christians to feel abandoned and distant from God. However, by strengthening your spirituality, in conjunction with our professional medical services, you can experience results that you never thought were possible.

RENEWAL is based on the belief in:

God who created us and loves us (Genesis 1:26)
Jesus Christ who redeems us (Isaiah 53:5)
The Holy Spirit who guides us (Acts 1:8)

When you participate in RENEWAL, you’re part of something much bigger than yourself. Brookhaven clients receive expert care from our team of mental professionals. Treatment is solution-focused and success-oriented. Our goal is to minimize symptoms, help individuals address life problems and live fulfilling lives. Sometimes healing requires a helping hand. We’re here to provide the guidance and support you need to recover.

Healing the Hurt

Share

by Rev. Tom Gray

Most of us have avoided someone because of a hurt they caused us. Often we nurse the hurts we’ve received and cannot move on. I’ve dealt with families separated by anger over a slight from years before. I don’t suggest that the hurts aren’t real, but I question the value of hanging on to the hurt.

If you find yourself in this position,

• Go to the person and explain how you’ve been hurt by them. If they respond rightly, a healing will take place.

• If the person refuses to admit to hurting you, move on as graciously as you can. You’ve done what God would want, and I believe that His healing will come to your soul.

Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be

condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Luke 6:37

Know that it will take some time in either case for healing to settle in your soul, but know that it will. We can’t recover from a hurt until we learn to forgive. This is why Scripture describes this as a process, even using the word “bear.”

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. Colossians 3:13

Repairing a relationship is worth the risk of taking the first step. It’s particularly good to remember that all forgiveness comes through Jesus Christ who, even though unfairly crucified, said,

“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” Luke 23:34
