RENEWAL is designed to offer hope and comfort to people suffering from mental health disorders or addiction disorders, and support to the people who love them. Our approach is based on respect for the dignity of the people we serve and the belief that through a faith-based program, life-changing results are possible.

RENEWAL: Christian Treatment and Recovery is an optional treatment supplement available through Brookhaven Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At Brookhaven, we understand that when you are suffering from an eating disorder, a personality disorder, a behavioral health disorder or chemical dependency, life can seem utterly hopeless. It can cause Christians to feel abandoned and distant from God. However, by strengthening your spirituality, in conjunction with our professional medical services, you can experience results that you never thought were possible.

RENEWAL is based on the belief in:

God who created us and loves us (Genesis 1:26)
Jesus Christ who redeems us (Isaiah 53:5)
The Holy Spirit who guides us (Acts 1:8)

When you participate in RENEWAL, you’re part of something much bigger than yourself. Brookhaven clients receive expert care from our team of mental professionals. Treatment is solution-focused and success-oriented. Our goal is to minimize symptoms, help individuals address life problems and live fulfilling lives. Sometimes healing requires a helping hand. Negative Fruits have Roots: The Importance of Forgiveness

Forgive Written by: Lydia D’Ross, Renewal Program Outreach Chaplain and ordained minister

Forgiveness is the decision to release someone from the obligation that resulted what they injured you.  This is, like many worthwhile endeavors in life, easier said than done.  Refusing to forgive oneself or someone else is often what keeps us in a stuck place in our life.  In order to follow the example of Christ, we need to extend forgiveness toward ourselves as well as toward others.

Here are a few scriptural references that illustrate how God instructs us to forgive others and why.

  • Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
  • Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Colossians 3:12-13.
  • See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; Hebrews 12:15

Dr. Mark Chironna said “The quality of how you pay attention and the areas where you invest your time reveal the level of effectiveness in your life and the quality of your relationships.  Relationships built on trust and not hate is a win-win partnership. “Forgiveness is the greatest gift we are extended through salvation, easily given by our Lord and Savior.

Sometimes it is hard to forgive someone who has hurt us so deeply, whether it is because of divorce, abuse, addiction or difference of opinions.  If we remember that Christ forgave us, then who are we not to do the same to those who have hurt us.  Some people really want to forgive those who have injured them but don’t know where or how to begin the healing process.  For some it can be a phone call or for others writing letters. Even if the person has passed on, you can still release your hurt through the power of forgiveness with the help of a professional counselor.

Brookhaven Hospital’s Renewal Christian Care program is here to serve you, to help you recognize symptoms of behaviors that can help you toward removing the root of un-forgiveness from your life so you can walk in the liberty of peace that God has designed for you.

We will also be hosting our next Pastoral Seminar on February 12, 2015, and the topic will be about forgiveness.  Pastor’s Rich and Rita Manganaro will present, “Negative Fruit has Roots: How to Use Forgiveness to Relieve Stress.”  To RSVP or for more information, please call 918-438-4257.
