RENEWAL is designed to offer hope and comfort to people suffering from mental health disorders or addiction disorders, and support to the people who love them. Our approach is based on respect for the dignity of the people we serve and the belief that through a faith-based program, life-changing results are possible.

RENEWAL: Christian Treatment and Recovery is an optional treatment supplement available through Brookhaven Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At Brookhaven, we understand that when you are suffering from an eating disorder, a personality disorder, a behavioral health disorder or chemical dependency, life can seem utterly hopeless. It can cause Christians to feel abandoned and distant from God. However, by strengthening your spirituality, in conjunction with our professional medical services, you can experience results that you never thought were possible.

RENEWAL is based on the belief in:

God who created us and loves us (Genesis 1:26)
Jesus Christ who redeems us (Isaiah 53:5)
The Holy Spirit who guides us (Acts 1:8)

When you participate in RENEWAL, you’re part of something much bigger than yourself. Brookhaven clients receive expert care from our team of mental professionals. Treatment is solution-focused and success-oriented. Our goal is to minimize symptoms, help individuals address life problems and live fulfilling lives. Sometimes healing requires a helping hand. Pursue Peace Through Forgiveness

Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for RENEWAL at Brookhaven Hospital

Life is hard. We hear that all time. We are sometimes hurt by relational injuries to the point where we hold unforgiveness in our heart for a long time. As a result of holding onto resentment, physical sickness can develop.

Some people find it hard to forgive, and may not realize they are sacrificing their own peace in the process. When we forgive, we can experience peace, and allow God’s blessings to flow once again in our lives.

In Mathew 6, Jesus prayed the “Lord’s Prayer” and in verse 12, Jesus clearly says, “And forgive us our debts, as we have also forgiven our debtors.” Our heavenly Father expects us to walk in forgiveness, so He may forgive us when we need forgiveness from Him.

You may be thinking, “Oh, I can’t forgive that person for that they did to me.”  Try to open your mind and heart to forgiveness, so that you may live in peace. Pursue peace for yourself and for your family. Be the bigger person.

Forgiveness is a choice and allows you to walk away from misery. The hardest part of forgiveness is often learning to forgive yourself. How long will you grieve for yourself? Forgiveness allows you to find a way of resolution in the most dire circumstance. Forgiveness is something you do for yourself, for your peace of mind. It is a healing process, and, most of all, the process honors God and then God honors you!

Researchers from Brain Leaders and Learners state that, “forgiveness alters the brain’s wiring – away from distortions brought about by the past, and beyond fears that limit the future,” and they further said, “forgiveness builds new neural pathways into physical , emotional and spiritual well-being.”
