RENEWAL is designed to offer hope and comfort to people suffering from mental health disorders or addiction disorders, and support to the people who love them. Our approach is based on respect for the dignity of the people we serve and the belief that through a faith-based program, life-changing results are possible.

RENEWAL: Christian Treatment and Recovery is an optional treatment supplement available through Brookhaven Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At Brookhaven, we understand that when you are suffering from an eating disorder, a personality disorder, a behavioral health disorder or chemical dependency, life can seem utterly hopeless. It can cause Christians to feel abandoned and distant from God. However, by strengthening your spirituality, in conjunction with our professional medical services, you can experience results that you never thought were possible.

The Holy Spirit who guides us (Acts 1:8)

RENEWAL Devotional: Celebrating Passover

Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for RENEWAL at Brookhaven Hospital

A good chapter to read this week is in the book of Exodus. Many Christians and people of the Jewish faith, together, are celebrating Passover in remembrance  of the pivotal event in Jewish history- the Exodus of Israelites out of bondage to a land flowing with milk and honey. The Passover story is one of survival and flight and the celebration is that of remembering the flight and the symbolism of life, both bitter and sweet which one endures. It is also a celebration of hope of our risen Savior.

God hears our cry as He did for the Israelites. He hears the cries of our nation, and He hears the heart of man. It is why this season is such a celebration of hope, a time to reconnect with our loved ones and pray for one another.

We cannot forget what Christ has done for us, and that every burden was laid at the cross. God heard the cries of Israelites and led them out of bondage. God will continue to intervene as He has done so throughout history; to deliver humanity from affliction and to redeem us from oppression. That is His promise to us in the book of remembrance in Exodus.

As we take our Seder Passover meal with our families this Sunday, remember the bittersweet moments that God has taken you out of times where you felt that there was no way out, but yet, God intervened!
