One of my favorite mediation scriptures is found in Psalms 26:2, “Examine me, O LORD, and test me!” Evaluate my inner thoughts and motives! [New Living Translation]
God tests our heart to see where our true motives are. Are we serving Him, or serving ourselves? When David was a shepherd boy before he became King, he knew how to spend time with our heavenly Father. He wrote songs, and sung them before Kings. When he became King, David did many things that did not please our Heavenly Father until the day he repented and lamented for his heart to be cleansed from all sins. It was then that he asked God to examine his heart daily to be sure that nothing would get in the way of their most intimate relationship. King David realized that with all his authority, wealth, wives and children, there was nothing more sacred that his relationship with his Heavenly Father.
Let’s examine our heart today! Let’s be fit to serve our King of Kings with a pure heart and stop worrying about pleasing others.
