RENEWAL is designed to offer hope and comfort to people suffering from mental health disorders or addiction disorders, and support to the people who love them. Our approach is based on respect for the dignity of the people we serve and the belief that through a faith-based program, life-changing results are possible.

RENEWAL: Christian Treatment and Recovery is an optional treatment supplement available through Brookhaven Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At Brookhaven, we understand that when you are suffering from an eating disorder, a personality disorder, a behavioral health disorder or chemical dependency, life can seem utterly hopeless. It can cause Christians to feel abandoned and distant from God. However, by strengthening your spirituality, in conjunction with our professional medical services, you can experience results that you never thought were possible.

RENEWAL is based on the belief in:

God who created us and loves us (Genesis 1:26)
Jesus Christ who redeems us (Isaiah 53:5)
The Holy Spirit who guides us (Acts 1:8)

When you participate in RENEWAL, you’re part of something much bigger than yourself. Brookhaven clients receive expert care from our team of mental professionals. Treatment is solution-focused and success-oriented. Our goal is to minimize symptoms, help individuals address life problems and live fulfilling lives. Sometimes healing requires a helping hand. Pain and suffering are sometimes accompanied by guilt which may lead us to feel that God has turned away and no longer cares. But this is a far from the truth, for God is always eager to offer forgiveness and to accept us in love. (Psalms 103)  Recovering from addiction and acknowledging your own shortcomings is a humbling experience. The task is easier when we know God delights in your coming to Him with a humble heart. You may say to yourself, “but I just keep relapsing into my old habits,” or “how can God forgive me, when I asked him to do so over and over again?” Your relationship with God is based on sincerity, truth, and humility.

King David was a classic example on how guilt can consume you. King David had a few skeletons in his closet, especially feelings of guilt and shame.  Yet, God called him friend, because he kept himself humble before the Lord, through his actions of “Sincerity and truth” (Psalms 51:6-17). King David came to God each time he felt guilty or ashamed. He had prayed to God, and said, not once or twice, but many times, “Create in me a pure heart, and put in me a new and loyal spirit.” God heard his prayers and humbled his heart. As long as you are working with God, God will be working within you. God never rejects a humble and repentant heart.   If you are able to forgive yourself, God can remove the rest of your shortcomings that has blocked your path to recovery. However, you must be ready to allow God to take them away and to begin your life anew. Here at Brookhaven Hospital’s Renewal Program, professional counselors are here to help you identify the root of your guilt and shame. Do it today, be like King David,  and go after God’s heart by staying connected.
