RENEWAL is designed to offer hope and comfort to people suffering from mental health disorders or addiction disorders, and support to the people who love them. Our approach is based on respect for the dignity of the people we serve and the belief that through a faith-based program, life-changing results are possible.

RENEWAL: Christian Treatment and Recovery is an optional treatment supplement available through Brookhaven Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At Brookhaven, we understand that when you are suffering from an eating disorder, a personality disorder, a behavioral health disorder or chemical dependency, life can seem utterly hopeless. It can cause Christians to feel abandoned and distant from God. However, by strengthening your spirituality, in conjunction with our professional medical services, you can experience results that you never thought were possible.

RENEWAL is based on the belief in:

God who created us and loves us (Genesis 1:26)
Jesus Christ who redeems us (Isaiah 53:5)
The Holy Spirit who guides us (Acts 1:8)

When you participate in RENEWAL, you’re part of something much bigger than yourself. Brookhaven clients receive expert care from our team of mental professionals. Treatment is solution-focused and success-oriented. Our goal is to minimize symptoms, help individuals address life problems and live fulfilling lives. Sometimes healing requires a helping hand. RENEWAL Devotional: The Benefits of Prayer

Written by Lydia D’Ross, ordained minister and outreach chaplain for Renewal at Brookhaven Hospital

For the next couple of weeks, we will be exploring different ways people pray to our heavenly father. There is no wrong way of praying. The best kind of prayer is praying from the heart and utilizing scripture to support your prayer.   Scripture always gives us the answer as we pray. Praying with empty words or mechanically praying might not be beneficial for you. Prayer is an art. There are many beautiful ways to express ourselves when we pray to our heavenly Father.

Why must we pray? We pray because we love God, and want to draw ourselves closer to him. We pray because we need God, but God also needs us. God wants our fellowship and He gets excited when we take the extra time in the morning to give thanks and talk about the day ahead. God wants to be involved in everything we do.

Rev. Kenneth Copeland teaches that prayer is the foundation for success.  Without prayer and knowing how to pray, we are not able to successfully deal with situations that come our way.  Apostle Paul was a man of prayer and he writes in the book of Ephesians 1:16 “ I cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers.”. Apostle Paul was praying for someone or a group of people daily. This tells us that we too must pray for ourselves, our family or people that God places in our heart to pray for.  We need to do it daily until the answer or peace enters into our being about the situation.

Some people feel guilty about just praying for only 5 minutes a day. If that is all the time you have, God will honor your heart; He knows. Some people pray all the time, because they have the time to pray all day long. Others pray in groups, or at a gathering. Prayer inspires hope in difficult situations.

Join others and begin to pray today!
