RENEWAL is designed to offer hope and comfort to people suffering from mental health disorders or addiction disorders, and support to the people who love them. Our approach is based on respect for the dignity of the people we serve and the belief that through a faith-based program, life-changing results are possible.

RENEWAL: Christian Treatment and Recovery is an optional treatment supplement available through Brookhaven Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At Brookhaven, we understand that when you are suffering from an eating disorder, a personality disorder, a behavioral health disorder or chemical dependency, life can seem utterly hopeless. It can cause Christians to feel abandoned and distant from God. However, by strengthening your spirituality, in conjunction with our professional medical services, you can experience results that you never thought were possible.

RENEWAL is based on the belief in:

God who created us and loves us (Genesis 1:26)
Jesus Christ who redeems us (Isaiah 53:5)
The Holy Spirit who guides us (Acts 1:8)

When you participate in RENEWAL, you’re part of something much bigger than yourself. Brookhaven clients receive expert care from our team of mental professionals. Treatment is solution-focused and success-oriented. Our goal is to minimize symptoms, help individuals address life problems and live fulfilling lives. Sometimes healing requires a helping hand. We’re here to provide the guidance and support you need to recover.

Resetting Your Affections on Him

Written by: Lydia D’Ross, Renewal Program Outreach Chaplain and ordained minister

Every year we either spend the holidays with our family, go away on vacation, or just stay home and relax.  Sometimes we feel forced into situations in which we really don’t want to be in the same room with people who don’t seem to get along due to personality clashes.  Be the bigger person, and give a hug to those who have offended you.  It’s not easy, but with Christ, all things are possible.

Many people will remember those who they have lost during this time of year. Holidays can be tough for some folks. It’s okay.  My dad has been gone now for two years. The first year was the hardest, but God, in his gracious way, gave us a nephew who was born on Thanksgiving Day. So it was a time of joy and a time of celebrating a new life. A loss of a loved one does change us, but we stay in the present moment, and do our best to move forward.

Apostle Paul tells us bout “giving thanks in everything.” Why do we give thanks this time of year? We give thanks for what God has given us with our family, children, grandchildren and living in a country that has more than enough, and remembers to give to those who are without.

This holiday season, bring out those old photos, bring laughter to your table and enjoy this time with your family, friends and try to remember your neighbors in this season of grace.

Here are a few things we can do this holiday season:

  • Let’s give heartfelt gratitude for salvation in Christ- that he cares about every detail in our lives, our decisions and our families.
  • Do something different and share your holiday table spread with a stranger.
  • Guard your heart: Don’t be easily offended by what someone else says
  • Take time to pray around the table and give thanks to the one who created us.
  • Don’t Judge: Less you be judged back
  • Bring words of encouragement to others
  • Most importantly-have fun!

If you are alone this season, our community has available resources where you can have a holiday meal at local churches. For more information about where you go for a great meal with fellowship, contact your local 2-1-1 service, which is available to you 24/7.
