RENEWAL is designed to offer hope and comfort to people suffering from mental health disorders or addiction disorders, and support to the people who love them. Our approach is based on respect for the dignity of the people we serve and the belief that through a faith-based program, life-changing results are possible.

RENEWAL: Christian Treatment and Recovery is an optional treatment supplement available through Brookhaven Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At Brookhaven, we understand that when you are suffering from an eating disorder, a personality disorder, a behavioral health disorder or chemical dependency, life can seem utterly hopeless. It can cause Christians to feel abandoned and distant from God. However, by strengthening your spirituality, in conjunction with our professional medical services, you can experience results that you never thought were possible.

RENEWAL is based on the belief in:

God who created us and loves us (Genesis 1:26)
Jesus Christ who redeems us (Isaiah 53:5)
The Holy Spirit who guides us (Acts 1:8)

When you participate in RENEWAL, you’re part of something much bigger than yourself. Brookhaven clients receive expert care from our team of mental professionals. Treatment is solution-focused and success-oriented. Our goal is to minimize symptoms, help individuals address life problems and live fulfilling lives. Sometimes healing requires a helping hand. The Fruit of Patience

Written by Lydia D’Ross, Ordained Minister and Outreach Chaplain for RENEWAL at Brookhaven Hospital

There are nine (9) defined fruits of the spirit that Galatians teaches us, and today we are going to be talking about the fruit of patience. (Galatians 5:22)

The Fruit of the Patience is to exercise Joy, Love and Peace in God. You can have patience when you have peace. Patience is a reaction that we can choose to have to different situations. Colossians3:12-13 says, “Clothe yourselves with…patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another.” Why is this fruit so important? Patience involves understanding and this can be difficult, especially when someone mistreated us. God is so patient with us, and waits for us to come to Him and ask Him for forgiveness. When we are not patient with others, it can give rise to anger.  When parents do not exercise patience with their children, anger builds up and the children learn this behavior, thinking that it is acceptable.

In Colossians 3:13 we read again that we need to endure one another’s faults or forbearance “to put up with it”. Ephesians4:2-13 says it better, “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another  in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

This week, I encourage you to practice peace, joy and patience. Swallow your pride, ask for help, and allow God to bring peace to your home through the force of patience.
