RENEWAL is designed to offer hope and comfort to people suffering from mental health disorders or addiction disorders, and support to the people who love them. Our approach is based on respect for the dignity of the people we serve and the belief that through a faith-based program, life-changing results are possible.

Tips On How To Have Good Mental Health For Valentine’s Day

HeartOfRosesValentine’s Day is just an ordinary day for some people but for others, it is a special day that involves spending time with a special someone. Unfortunately, not everyone gets to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  Are you someone who is hesitant to approach Valentine’s Day? Are you tired of seeing idealistic celebrations that do not reflect the kind of relationship that you have? If yes, then this article is definitely for you.

A lot of people do not look forward to celebrating Valentine’s Day and there are many reasons behind this disinterested behavior. One of the most common reasons is that Valentine’s Day shines a spotlight on what is wrong with a relationship or it also reminds people what is missing in their lives. Some people also suffer from the loss of loved ones thus they feel bitter during Valentine’s Day.  On the other hand, couples who have been together for a long time also suffer from relationship fatigue and may no longer care about celebrating Valentine’s Day. Whatever the reasons for people to skip celebrating Valentine’s Day, the holiday can still cause a great deal of emotional and mental stress. So how do you deal with Valentine’s Day stress? Below are the tips on what you should do to still enjoy Valentine’s Day despite the odds.

Surround Yourself With People You Love And Who Love You

Remember that Valentine’s Day is not only a day that you spend with your romantic partner. It is also the day that you can celebrate with anyone you love. If you do not have a single date during Valentine’s Day, why not celebrate it with your parents or your other single friends? You can draw strengths with each other, and this also reaffirms your commitment to them.

Love Yourself More

The media is another reason why people might feel down during Valentine’s Day. Weeks before Valentine’s Day, you will see a lot of advertisements on TV, radio and newspapers related to the holiday. What you can do is try to avoid media and just love yourself more. If you do not have a Valentine’s Day gift, you can stay at home, cook yourself a nice dinner and also read a good book. By pampering and loving yourself more, you will shift the focus from what you think you are missing.  Besides, loving yourself is the first step in being able to be in a healthy relationship with someone else.

Remember That God Loves You

Valentine’s Day is the time when lonely people entertain a lot of sad thoughts about relationships. Some people think about their failed relationships of the past and blame themselves for it. You have to remember that even if you are alone, God loves you. He said in Hebrews 13:5 (NIV) “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” God’s love might not be romantic, but it is the ideal love that will sustain your spirit.

Valentine’s Day should not be a sad day for those who do not have dates. There are many ways for you to celebrate this special day despite what you are going through. Be strong, love yourself more, and remember God loves you.
